By Rubén Morales Iglesias: In a spirited display of resilience, Capital Sport Club (CSC) secured their first point of the 2025–2026 Premier League of Belize Opening Championship with a surprise 2–2 draw against Port Layola on Saturday at the IsidoroBeaton Stadium in Belmopan.
Despite entering the match winless and at the bottom of the standings, the White Lions stunned the visiting Belize City side with a determined performance. Port Layola took the lead in the 62nd minute through striker Michael Palacio (#14), but CSC responded with two quick goals: José de la Mora García (#9) leveled the score, followed by Kerdell Díaz (#27) putting CSC ahead.

Port Layola salvaged a point deep into stoppage time when Juan Luquez (#90) found the net in the 90+2 minute, denying CSC a historic win but not their first taste of success this season.
Though CSC remains at the bottom of the table, Saturday’s result marks a turning point in their campaign. For Port Layola, the late equalizer may have softened the blow, but the dropped points could prove costly in the race for playoff positioning.
