Premier League of Belize: Benque United defeat Wagiya 3–0 to move into 3rd place

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Benque United climbed to third place with 7 points in the Premier League of Belize Closing Championship after defeating Wagiya SC 3–0 on Saturday night at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.

Benque opened the scoring in the 41st minute, when Fernando Aguirres finished confidently to give the home side a 1–0 halftime lead.

They maintained control after the interval and doubled the advantage in the 77th minute, with José Miguel García netting his first of the night to make it 2–0.

García struck again three minutes into added time, sealing the 3–0 victory and completing a strong performance for Benque United, who continue their rise up the standings.

Wagiya, still searching for their first point of the tournament, remain bottom on 0 points after five consecutive defeats.

Benque now sit third on 7 points, behind leaders Progresso (13) and Verdes (12).

Belmopan FC and Port Layola follow with 6 points each.
