By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Rain clouds may loom over Belmopan, but the match is still on. Saturday night’s Premier League of Belize Week 6 fixture sees Belmopan FC hosting Port Layola at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in the capital, with kickoff set for 7:30 pm.

The Isidoro Beaton Stadium’s synthetic pitch and reliable drainage system mean that light rain shouldn’t prevent play from going ahead.

Belmopan FC enter the clash with 7 points, sitting third in the standings—just one behind the joint leaders. A win tonight could lift them into the top two, depending on Sunday’s outcomes. Port Layola, currently on 5 points, are aiming to break into the top four and disrupt the early-season hierarchy.

Despite the wet conditions, both sides are expected to bring intensity to the pitch. With playoff positioning already taking shape, this matchup could prove decisive in the race for momentum heading into the second half of the Opening Championship.
