Premier League of Belize: Bandits shock Progresso 2-1

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belmopan Bandits stunned Progresso 2-1 at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan on Saturday night in the second week of the Premier League of Belize 2023-24 Closing Season.

Naitan Pastrana struck the opener in favour of the Bandits in the 16^th minute.

Progresso rallied and tied the match in injury time in the 45’+3 through the efforts of Raheem Eagan.

But, the renovated young Bandits side, which features only three players above 23 years of age, were not about to be outdone and hammered back with a strike by Jonard Castillo in the 58^th minute giving them their first three points.

While Bandits celebrated their first victory, Opening Season’s third-place Progresso lost the second match in a row recording a dismal start to the Closing Season.

In the other games, Verdes dropped Altitude 1-0, Port Layola whipped Wagiya 5-2, and Benque United edged Police Benque 1-0.
