By Aaron Humes: Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) has announced an unplanned power outage affecting a portion of the city since 12:32 this morning, Tuesday.
The power supply was initially expected to be restored by 8 a.m. as the BEL repair team worked to fix a broken utility pole that was carrying transmission lines.
However, an update from BEL indicated that due to unforeseen delays encountered during the repair process, power would now be restored by approximately 9:30 am. The utility team is actively working to resolve the issue and restore services as soon as possible.
The outage, we are told, has resulted in at least one school not having food in its cafeteria after food vendors canceled their daily orders.
Residents are advised to check the BEL 24-7 App for the latest updates and information regarding the power outage and restoration efforts.
