By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Premier League of Belize champions Port Layola will take on Napoles, while 2024 pre-season champions Verdes will match up against Belmopan First Division Champions Club Atlético in the first round of the one-day Belmopan Championship Preseason Quadrangular on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan. The event kicks off at 4:00 pm and offers a total of $4,000 in prizes for the participating teams.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
- Game 1: Napoles FC vs. Port Layola FC at 4:00 pm
- Game 2: Club Atlético vs. Verdes FC at 5:30 pm
- Game 3: Third Place Match at 7:30 pm
- Game 4: Championship Match at 9:00 pm
Apart from the top-tier PLB clubs, the one-day tournament features the top Belmopan First Division teams, champions Club Atlético and Napoles. These are the Belmopan teams that pull the biggest crowds, even larger than some of the PLB clubs.
These teams will compete for the following prizes:
- 1st Place: $2,500
- 2nd Place: $1,000
- 3rd Place: $500
All winning teams will also receive trophies, adding to the prestige of the competition.
Tickets are priced at $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids, making it an affordable and family-friendly event. Come and support local football while enjoying a day filled with competitive matches and community spirit at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium.
