By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Current champions Premier League of Belize (PLB) 2024-2025 Closing Championship Port Layola have taken an early lead showing their determination to defend their title. Just two weeks in, Port have exhibited great determination to defend their title.

Week 2 Standings:

1. Port Layola: The reigning champions have started the season strong, winning both of their matches. With 2 games played (GP), 2 wins (W), 0 draws (D), and 0 losses (L), they have scored 9 goals for (GF) and conceded 3 goals against (GA), giving them a goal difference (GD) of 6 and a total of 6 points (PTS).
2. Verdes: Verdes also have a perfect record so far, with 2 wins from 2 games. They have scored 6 goals and conceded 2, resulting in a goal difference of 4 and 6 points.
3. Progresso: Progresso have had a mixed start with 1 win and 1 loss. They have scored 6 goals and conceded 4, giving them a goal difference of 2 and 3 points.
4. San Pedro: San Pedro mirror Progresso’s record with 1 win, 0 draws, and 1 loss. They have scored 5 goals and conceded 3, resulting in a goal difference of 2 and 3 points.
5. Wagiya: Wagiya have struggled in the opening weeks, failing to secure a win. With 2 draws, they have scored 2 goals and conceded 7, resulting in a goal difference of -5 and 0 points.
6. Belmopan FC: Belmopan FC have also had a tough start, with 2 losses. They have scored 2 goals and conceded 11, resulting in a goal difference of -9 and 0 points. Despite their new ownership and revamping, Belmopan FC are experiencing the same problems they’ve had over the last few seasons – losing.
