By Zoila Palma: On February 11, 2025, Prime Minister John Briceño formally advised the Governor General to dissolve the National Assembly and issue writs for the General Elections, which are set for Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
Nomination Day will take place on Monday, February 24, 2025.
As part of this announcement, March 12, 2025, will be observed as a Public and Bank Holiday in accordance with Part II, Section 9 of the Holidays Act, Chapter 289 of the Laws of Belize.
With the election date now confirmed, the two main political parties in Belize, the People’s United Party (PUP) and the United Democratic Party (UDP), are intensifying their preparations.
The PUP has launched its “Right Pan Track” slogan, while the UDP has circulated flyers with the message “U Deserve Better” across social media.
Both parties are actively campaigning on the ground, bracing for a highly competitive race as Belizean voters prepare to head to the polls next month.
