By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a road traffic accident in western Belize.
On Thursday, August 21, about 3:00 p.m., police responded to a report of a road traffic accident at Mile 38 on the George Price Highway, near St. Matthew’s Village. Upon arrival, they observed a Kia Spectra car with damage to its entire front portion on the highway. The car was being driven at the time by a Police Constable. They also observed a van overturned in a drain on the left side of the highway, driven by a taxi driver from St. Matthew’s Village.
Initial investigations revealed that the van was traveling towards Belmopan with six passengers when, upon reaching a pedestrian crossing, the Kia ran into the rear of his van, causing it to overturn. Both drivers and the six passengers of the van were transported to the hospital via ambulance with minor injuries. All persons were listed in stable condition.
