By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Joint highway patrols conducted by the Punta Gorda Road Policing Unit and Department of Transport (DOT) Wardens resulted in multiple traffic violations being issued on Monday, January 26, 2026.
The patrol covered major routes from Punta Gorda Town through Columbia, Silver Creek, and San Miguel villages, targeting unlicensed drivers, uninsured vehicles, and unsafe motorcycle practices.
During the operation, officers issued three traffic violation tickets.
Wilfred Teul was cited for failing to produce a valid driver’s license and failing to produce an insurance disc.
Staffard Jones received multiple violations, including failing to produce a driver’s license, failing to display an insurance disc, using an unlicensed motor vehicle, and operating a motorcycle without a protective helmet.
Thomas Tush was ticketed for failing to produce a driver’s license, failing to keep a registration certificate, and riding a motorcycle without a protective helmet.
Additionally, Kerlin Moriera was warned and advised that a summons may be issued for failing to produce a driver’s license, among other traffic-related offenses.
Police reported that the operation concluded peacefully and reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing enforcement efforts aimed at improving road safety in the southern districts.
