By Aaron Humes: Police say they have not established exactly how 32-year-old Ryan Hyde was shot on October 24, dying three days later.
Initial reports said it happened on the Mountain Pine Ridge Road near Georgeville around 9:30 Friday night. Responding police were said to have found a white 4-door 4×4 pickup truck parked on the roadside with no occupants, but blood stains in the driver’s seat. Hyde had already been taken to San Ignacio Hospital.
But ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer, told reporters on Wednesday that it has not been that simple for investigators: “Police are following up on a number of leads as it relates to Hyde. Hyde’s investigation proves particularly difficult because we have not been able so far to conclusively establish a crime scene…We have some indications as to where it may have occurred and what may have been the motive in relation to that. However, it is a matter that is under ongoing investigation and it will be disposed as it becomes necessary to do so…What I can say is that a vehicle is one of the possible scenes that have been explored and we are undertaking the necessary forensic examination to be able to make a determination.”
