Police quickly apprehend suspect in Ladyville meat shop robbery

By Aaron Humes: Police have identified a suspect and recovered stolen pork chops that were taken from the Meat Max shop in Ladyville, Belize District, during a robbery this morning, Friday.

According to the shop’s attendant, at about 8:45 a.m. while she was inside her boss’s shop on the Old Well Road, a Hispanic descent man dressed in a white T-shirt and a khaki 3/4 pants entered the shop and ordered two pounds of pork meat. She then went for the pork meat and he came behind the counter, placed a black firearm to her side, and demanded money.

The robber then went to the cash pan and took an undisclosed amount of money and 3 pounds of pork chops, and left the store on a bicycle.

Based on the description given by the victim, Police visited the residence of a suspect known to them, where the pork chops was found in an aluminum dish in an outdoor kitchen. The suspect arrived and, when he saw the police, attempted to run away from them. Police chased behind him, detained him, and informed him of the offence he committed of robbery, cautioned him and informed him of his constitutional rights.

Investigations continue at this time.
