By Aaron Humes: A police officer is hospitalized following a shooting incident this afternoon in Belize City.
According to police, Police Officer Leroy Kerr, 42, was working along with a younger man and a minor doing home repairs at a residence on Raleigh Street when an unknown individual approached the residence from off Raleigh Street and fired several shots towards the house injuring Leroy Kerr, thereafter escaping.
Leroy Kerr was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is receiving medical attention. During the incident the younger man with him also received a apparent gunshot graze.
Kerr’s condition is unknown at this time. The matter is under investigation by police.
