By Aaron Humes: A police officer is completing treatment at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after being attacked at 10 p.m. Thursday by a believed mental patient.
According to police, officers were called to the Novelos Bus Terminal at the corner of West Collet Canal and King Street to a fight in progress. They found fellow officer Faustino Makin, attached to Precinct One just down the street, with a cut wound to the top of his mouth which bled profusely.
Officer Makin and one Richard Williams, 69, were in a misunderstanding that occurred minutes earlier and Williams is alleged to have attacked Makin.
Williams has been detained pending investigation.
