By Aaron Humes: Police sources have confirmed a significant seizure of ‘high-grade’ marijuana recovered from a residence this morning in Lords’ Bank, Belize District.
Commissioner of Police Dr Richard Rosado was personally on the ground and told reporters that “I believe it is one of the largest drug seizures for cannabis that the Department has ever had. The success today is [a result of] commitment [by the] Department to invest in technology, intelligence-led policing and surveillance while developing the capacity [of our] personnel.” He added that recent seizures of drugs and firearms is part of this shift in policing effort.
The drugs are being taken to an undisclosed location, reported to be in Belize City, where they will be weighed and processed while charges are proffered.
