Police make arrests in taximen’s double murder – Karl Lindo, Christopher Smith charged with murder

By Aaron Humes: 21-year-old Karl Lindo of Hattieville, Belize District, and 21-year-old Christopher Alexander Smith of Linda Vista Street, Belize City, have each been charged with two counts of murder for the killings of Marvin Cante and Juan Carlos Reymundo, which are speculated to have taken place on November 27.

Police have confirmed that the bodies of the taxi operators, both of Belmopan, were recovered from a shallow grave in the Hattieville area on Thursday morning.

The bodies were said to display chop wounds. Each were reported to have been dismembered to fit in the grave, one on top of the other. They have been removed to the morgue for further examination.

The men were last heard from on November 26 and were last seen somewhere on the Coastal Highway near La Democracia. They were heading from Belmopan to the Belize District but disappeared and the next day, their vehicle was found with the engine still idling and blood on the car seat.
