By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police in western Belize have launched an investigation after a decomposed body, believed to be that of a male gunshot victim, was discovered at the Unitedville Village cemetery on Wednesday afternoon.
Police responded to the scene around 3:44 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving reports of a body found in the area. Upon arrival, officers observed a male corpse in an advanced state of decomposition, with visible signs of gunshot wounds.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed and he is currently listed as “John Doe.” The body was removed from the scene and transported to the National Forensic Science Services Laboratory, where it awaits a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause and time of death.
Investigations are ongoing as police work to identify the victim and determine the circumstances surrounding his apparent murder.
