By Aaron Humes: A woman is recovering in stable condition following a violent domestic dispute that escalated into a stabbing incident early on Monday morning. The police are currently investigating the case, which occurred at a residence on Gibnut Street, Belize City.
According to Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Stacy Smith, law enforcement was alerted around 5 AM about an ongoing altercation at the location. Officers quickly responded and arrived at the scene to find a disturbing sight.
Upon entering the residence, the police were directed by a male occupant to a bedroom where they discovered a woman suffering from several stab wounds. She was in a semi-conscious state, prompting immediate medical attention.
ASP Smith reported that the victim was immediately taken to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Fortunately, hospital staff have since confirmed that she is in stable condition.
Police have detained a male individual in connection with the incident, as the investigation continues. Police have not disclosed further details regarding the suspect or the circumstances of the domestic dispute.
