By Horace Palacio: Authorities are investigating the cause of a vehicle fire that completely destroyed a white Ford Fusion found on Belize River Valley Road between Flowers Bank and Scotland Half Moon on Friday morning.
Police were alerted to the fire and arrived at the scene at approximately 6:45 a.m., where they found the vehicle on the right shoulder of the road, charred and unidentifiable. Preliminary investigations revealed that the car had been parked intact at the location since Thursday, December 26, after sustaining a damaged rear tire and rim.
Due to the extent of the damage, no license plate or VIN number could be retrieved from the vehicle, and as of now, no one has come forward to claim ownership or provide a statement regarding the incident.
Police searched the area but found no evidence to help determine the cause of the fire. The scene was photographed and processed by a SOC Technician later in the morning. The Fire Department has been notified, and additional efforts are underway to locate witnesses or the vehicle’s owner.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
