By Horace Palacio: A former accountant in San Pedro is facing serious legal trouble after being accused of stealing over half a million dollars from a well-known development company, El Diamante Ltd.. The case surfaced when the company’s owner filed a report on January 21, 2025, alleging that her accountant admitted to theft after being confronted with financial discrepancies.
The suspected fraud was discovered in February 2023, when a business consultant identified suspicious transactions during a review of financial records for a loan application. The investigation revealed a series of fraudulent activities, including cashing company checks for personal use, paying personal utility bills from business accounts, and payroll manipulation.
The police have gathered documents, recorded statements, and secured financial evidence as part of their investigation. The accountant, who was detained by authorities, is now facing multiple theft charges. As the legal process unfolds, the company continues working to recover the stolen funds and ensure tighter financial controls.
