Police investigate murder of 33-year-old Michael Usher in Belize City

By Jose Luis Cruz: Police in Belize City are currently investigating a shooting on Flamboyant Street on Monday night that left 33-year-old Michael Usher dead. Usher, a resident of Pinks Alley, was reportedly walking in the direction of Mahogany Street when he was attacked from behind and shot multiple times.

Police were alerted to the shooting just before 8 PM last night and they arrived on the scene shortly after. At the scene, Police found Usher critically injured with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH), where he was pronounced dead around 9 PM.

The Crimes Investigation Branch (CIB) personnel are currently leading the investigations into the murder. A Scene of Crime officer processed the area, recovering evidence including expended shells, a slug, and blood samples. Police are actively searching for surveillance footage in the area and have conducted interviews, but no suspect or suspects have been identified as yet. The motive for the shooting is also not known as yet.

Police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in their investigation and bring the perpetrator(s) to justice.
