Police investigate how late elderly woman’s tomb desecrated in Hattieville

By Aaron Humes: A shocking act of vandalism was reported as the tomb of a 63-year-old woman was desecrated at a local cemetery on Sunday when officers were alerted to the scene following reports of tampering.

Police found that the front portion of the tomb had been broken, and the body was removed from its resting place. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Hilberto Romero from the National Criminal Investigation Branch (NCIB) provided details on the incident during a press briefing.

“Upon their arrival they observed that a tomb had been broken, the front portion, and the body had been tampered with. A medical examiner came to the area and examined the body, thereafter the remains were put back in the tomb. We’re currently carrying out an investigation into this report and we are seeking one suspect in regards to this incident,” ACP Romero stated.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, as ACP Romero responded to the question of motive, “We do not know at this time; we will await the forensic report.”

It was noted that the elderly woman, had been buried just a day before the incident, having died of natural causes, specifically a heart attack related to diabetes. Police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward as they work to solve this incident.
