Police inspect 150 vehicles during weekend operation

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A police traffic operation conducted in the Orange Walk District on Saturday, December 13, 2025, resulted in several traffic violations and one arrest.

The Orange Walk Road Policing Unit conducted both stationary and roving checkpoints from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. along Guinea Grass Road and routes to San Jose and San Lazaro villages.

Police reported that the operation targeted traffic offenses, as well as the detection of illegal immigrants, firearms, drugs, and wanted persons. During the exercise, officers inspected approximately 150 vehicles.

Four traffic tickets were issued, and one individual was detained and later charged. The accused was identified as Ian Ismael Carrillo, a 20-year-old Belizean of San Lazaro Village, who faces charges of driving without a valid license, operating an unlicensed motor vehicle, and using a vehicle without third-party insurance.

Carrillo was granted police bail of $500 with one surety and is due to appear in court on December 19, 2025.
