By Aaron Humes: Police have detained one individual and may be seeking others after a shooting incident Tuesday night around 9:00 p.m. at the corner of Berkeley Street and West Canal Street in Belize City.
At the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, police found 27-year-old Ryan Thompson of Euphrates Avenue and 21-year-old Deon Gladden of West Street, both in stable condition after receiving gunshot wounds.
Ten minutes before, they had been on Berkeley Street making a purchase and were headed back toward West Canal when they heard several loud bangs followed by a burning sensation which they recognized as bleeding from gunfire. They ran down West Canal and were given aid and ferried to hospital by a driver in a red vehicle.
Investigations by police continue.
