Police crack six-month-old murder case and charged a man who has beaten a murder before

By Aaron Humes: Former murder suspect 30-year-old Lyson James Cacho is back behind bars, charged once again with murder.

The Belize City Council maintenance worker is accused of, on November 23, 2023, the murder of Jordan Akeem Waight.

In court, no plea was taken from Cacho as the charge of murder is an indictable offense to be tried before the High Court and he was remanded without bail to the Belize Central Prison until July 16.

Waight, 23, of Police Street, was found shot to the head while walking on Barbara Harris Street heading in the direction of Lacroix Boulevard. He was reportedly ambushed from behind by a lone gunman who was dressed in red shorts riding a bicycle and was described as being dark-skinned, medium built with dreads.

Cacho was previously charged with murder in 2015 but acquitted.
