By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police Constable Jerome Locke Jr., 31, has been cleared of criminal charges after his common-law wife chose not to proceed with the case against him in court.
Locke Jr., who had been on interdiction, was charged in April with harm and damage to property after allegedly hitting his common-law wife and breaking ten glass cups during a domestic dispute. The incident occurred on April 10, 2025, at their Belize City home following an argument over the whereabouts of her 9-year-old daughter.
However, in court on Friday, the 29-year-old complainant told the Senior Magistrate she no longer wished to continue, stating, “This is cutting into my time with my job. It really nuh mek sense to come here and waste my time.” She confirmed she made the decision voluntarily and without coercion.
As a result, the charges were withdrawn for want of prosecution, and Locke Jr. was told he was free to go.
