The incident unfolded around 5:00 a.m. inside a home on Gibnut Street, where officers responding to a distress call discovered Police Constable Jessica Pou, 24, lying unresponsive with multiple stab wounds.

She was immediately transported to the hospital, where medical teams were able to stabilize her. Later, Pou informed police that she had been attacked around 3:35 a.m. by her common-law partner, 25-year-old Coast Guardsman Brian Chiac, following an argument. She reported that Chiac stabbed her repeatedly and threatened to kill her during the confrontation.

Police have since detained Chiac and charged him with Attempted Murder, Use of Deadly Means of Harm, and Wounding. He remains in custody pending further court proceedings. Investigators continue to compile evidence as the case moves forward.
