By Breaking Belize News Staff: A young police constable facing three serious criminal charges walked free today after his common-law wife chose not to proceed with the case against him.
PC Crispin Christopher Tesecum, 20, of Antelope Street Extension, Belize City, was arraigned on Tuesday afternoon on charges of aggravated assault with a knife, wounding, and damage to property after an alleged domestic dispute on Saturday, September 27. He was accused of injuring his estranged common-law wife and damaging her $200 ZTC cellphone.
Tesecum pleaded not guilty to all charges. However, in court, the complainant told Senior Magistrate Deborah Rogers that she did not wish to pursue the matter further. She confirmed that her decision was made freely, without threats or promises, and indicated she may instead seek a restraining order through the Family Court.
With no further evidence offered, the prosecution withdrew the charges and Tesecum was released.
Before dismissing the case, the Senior Magistrate addressed the officer directly, saying: “As a man of the law, you are held at a higher standard. Today you have been given another chance.”
Tesecum, who faced possible interdiction if the case had proceeded, remains on active duty.
