By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police have officially confirmed that 31-year-old Charles Nolberto was murdered during Saturday night’s shooting in the Taylor’s Alley area of Belize City, while three other men sustained gunshot injuries.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith provided the confirmation during Sunday’s emergency police briefing, resolving conflicting reports that initially circulated about whether anyone had died.
The injured men include 29-year-old Charles Middleton and two others, ages Cesario Choco, 32, and Clifford Olivera, 43.
According to Smith, the attack occurred at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, while four men were socializing near Cemetery Road.
Investigators established through surveillance footage obtained from the Crime Fusion and Operations Centre that a black Chevrolet vehicle stopped in front of the group.
An individual inside the vehicle reportedly opened fire, fatally injuring Nolberto and wounding the three other men.
Police confirmed that all three surviving victims were in stable condition.
Smith revealed that investigators have identified a vehicle of interest and are actively searching for it.
Unlike the internal gang disputes being investigated in connection with other recent murders, police believe the Taylor’s Alley attack resulted from a conflict between opposing gangs.
Both Nolberto and Middleton were previously identified in BBN’s August 2024 coverage of alleged Taylor’s Alley gang affiliates detained during a state of emergency.
That report identified Nolberto and Middleton among several individuals detained under emergency measures following a deadly robbery in Belize City.
Their previous detention does not establish that either man was involved in that robbery or that Saturday’s shooting was connected to it.
Police investigations continue.
