By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 24 year old Orange Walk man has been charged with reckless driving following an early morning police pursuit.
According to police information, officers were conducting mobile patrol on San Narciso Street at around 1:20 a.m. on September 15 when their attention was drawn to a black motorcycle with a defective rear light.
Police say the rider was signalled to stop but allegedly drove off and began swerving from side to side along the street.
Officers reportedly followed the motorcycle for approximately five minutes before managing to intercept the rider.
Police say the man told officers he had not been trying to escape.
A search was conducted and nothing incriminating was found. Checks on the motorcycle documents also reportedly showed that the licence and insurance were up to date.
The rider was then informed that he was being detained for reckless driving and was escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station.
Police identified him as Nathan J. Navarrete, 24, a labourer of Santa Familia Street, Orange Walk.
He was later formally arrested and charged with reckless driving.
