By Aaron Humes: Today, Monday, police formally arrested and charged 25-year-old Loren Timoteo Vanegas, a Belizean Salesman of Dangriga Town, for the crime of murder.
Vanegas is accused of killing Manuel Fernandez Jr. sometime in the last 48 hours following a fight at his meat shop on Ecumenical Drive.
According to police, they were tipped off and visited Vanegas, whom they observed to be ‘acting suspiciously.’ After a search of the premises, Vanegas was taken into custody and the scene was processed.
Fernandez’s body was found on Sunday morning with stab wounds inside a plastic barrel in front of the Pelican Beach Resort in Dangriga.
Police investigation revealed that the men had an argument that escalated to a confrontation, that resulted in the killing.
