By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 23-year-old man has been charged following a police chase in Orange Walk Town on Friday afternoon.

According to police, around 2:50 p.m. on December 26, officers conducting mobile patrol along Chan Pine Ridge Road observed a black Lifan motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction. When police attempted to stop the rider, he allegedly refused and sped off.

Officers pursued the motorcycle and intercepted it on Sittee River Street. The rider was identified as Wilmer Anthony Romero, a laborer of Orange Walk Town. He produced a driver’s license; however, further checks revealed that both the motorcycle’s license and insurance had expired.

Romero was informed of the offenses and escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station along with the motorcycle. He was later formally arrested and charged for willfully refusing to stop when directed, reckless driving, driving a motor vehicle without third-party insurance, and using an unlicensed motor vehicle.

Investigations into the matter have been completed and the case has been forwarded to court.
