Police charge David Friesen, a farmer from Belize Rural, with murder after victim found to have been strangled

By Aaron Humes: On Saturday, police arrested and charged 28-year-old David Friesen, a farmer of Corozalito village, Belize District, with the murder of Alexander Elbir Viamill, 33.

Viamill was found to have been killed by mechanical asphyxiation due to ligature strangulation following a post-mortem examination on Thursday. It appears someone caused an object to be tied or placed on Viamill that fatally restricted his breathing, ultimately causing his death.

Other details are not known at this time including the relationship between the accused and the deceased and what led to the apparent killing.
