Police: Brothers chop each other during violent dispute; both hospitalized

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A family dispute turned violent on Wednesday afternoon when two brothers attacked each other with machetes during a confrontation in Santa Martha Village, Orange Walk. The altercation occurred around 4:00 p.m. on November 26, 2025, involving Ricardo Patt, 45, and Ermin Patt, 34.

Police say the men were socializing when an argument escalated beyond control. The confrontation turned physical, and both brothers reportedly armed themselves with machetes, resulting in injuries to both parties. Ricardo sustained cuts to his right foot and left hand, while Ermin suffered lash injuries across his back along with a cut to his left foot.

Police responded to the scene and later issued medico forms to both men. They were taken to the Northern Regional Hospital for medical attention. No word yet on whether charges will be filed as the investigation continues.
