By Aaron Humes: Police have detained 21-year-old Jerdell Benjamin King from Independence Village in connection with a shooting that occurred on September 6, 2025, in Bella Vista Village, Toledo District.
King is charged with one count of murder for the death of Nergin Ceron and an attempted murder charge for injuries inflicted on Nickey Logan.
Ceron and Logan were attacked in their home, shot without warning. Logan sustained life-threatening wounds while protecting the couple’s child. It was part of a series of violent incidents between July and December 2025 that police have broadly linked to disputes surrounding the drug trade. Four were killed in Bella Vista in separate incidents and a fifth in Independence when another individual was targeted during a gathering at a village bar.
