By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in San Antonio, Rio Hondo Village, Northern Belize, have made a breakthrough in the burglary of the local community center after searching the home of a man believed to be connected to the crime.
Armed with a search warrant, officers raided the residence of Jose Edwardo Canul, 36, where they reportedly found an orange Easy Two weed eater matching the description of property stolen from the center. The item was immediately identified by the complainant.
Canul was detained for handling stolen goods and taken to the station for processing. The victim and the retrieved property have also been brought in so investigators can record additional statements.
Police say they are now working to determine whether Canul acted alone or if other items from the burglary remain unaccounted for.
