By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police have arrested and charged a couple from Guinea Grass Village, Orange Walk District, after a search of their home led to the discovery of suspected cocaine.
According to police, around 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11th, 2025, members of the Anti-Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of Neri Javier Mejia, located in Guinea Grass Village. The house, a concrete structure with zinc roofing, was occupied at the time by 30-year-old Shanelly Angeline Pech.
During the search, officers discovered two small transparent ziplock bags containing a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine inside the waistband of a grey short pants on a bed. Two additional ziplock bags with skull designs, also containing suspected cocaine, were found inside a grey backpack containing tattoo-making equipment.
A short time later, Mejia was escorted to the residence, where the search continued in his presence but yielded no further incriminating evidence. Both Mejia and Pech were taken to the police station, where the suspected drugs were weighed in their presence. The total amounted to 1.84 grams of suspected cocaine, which was sealed and labelled as an exhibit.
Police say both Neri Javier Mejia, a 30-year-old graphic designer, and Shanelly Angeline Pech, a 30-year-old housewife, were formally arrested and charged for the offence of Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply to Another.
