By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A Trial Farm resident has been charged with aggravated assault following a family dispute involving a machete.
Police say the incident happened late Sunday night at a home on Nightingale Street, where an argument reportedly broke out between two brothers.
According to reports, 35-year-old Amir Reynaldo Cal allegedly pulled out a machete from beneath a sofa and threatened his younger brother during the confrontation. The victim reportedly grabbed a box to shield himself while fearing for his safety.
The situation was eventually defused after another family member intervened and removed the accused from the house.
Police later detained Amir Cal and recovered the machete believed to have been used during the incident. He has since been formally charged with aggravated assault.
