PM says Belize City delegates face tough choice between Pollard and Miller

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The race to become the People’s United Party’s next mayoral candidate for Belize City is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched political contests in the country.

With Allan Pollard and Eluide Miller both seeking the nomination, Prime Minister John Briceño says delegates will have a difficult decision ahead of them.

Speaking to the media, Briceño praised both candidates and said either man would make a strong mayor for Belize City.

The Prime Minister had particularly warm words for Pollard, noting that he has paid his dues within the party and earned the opportunity to compete for the position.

Briceño said Pollard’s personal journey is one he greatly respects, pointing out that he grew up in challenging circumstances but chose a positive path and built a successful life through hard work and dedication.

According to the Prime Minister, Pollard brings energy, vision, and fresh ideas to the table and would perform well if selected as mayoral candidate.

However, Briceño was equally complimentary of Miller, who has served on the Belize City Council for two terms and has built a reputation as a hardworking and humble public servant.

The Prime Minister noted that Miller has proven himself through years of service and possesses many of the same leadership qualities the party values.

As excitement builds ahead of the convention, Briceño said he is glad the final decision rests with party delegates and not with him.

For now, the Prime Minister’s message is clear: regardless of who emerges victorious, the PUP believes it has two strong candidates capable of leading Belize City.

With convention season approaching, political observers expect the contest between Pollard and Miller to generate significant interest among supporters in the Old Capital.
