By Zoila Palma: Prime Minister John Briceño used his address at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly to call for greater inclusion of Taiwan in global efforts toward sustainable development.
“Realizing the ambition of leaving no one behind requires the involvement of everyone. Yet the UN still excludes one critical actor: the people of Taiwan,”
Briceño said, highlighting Taiwan’s achievements as a thriving democracy and global leader in high-tech innovation, including semiconductors, AI, biotechnology, and renewable energy.
He emphasized Taiwan’s contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals, noting its support for partners through advanced technology.
Briceño concluded by urging the United Nations “to find appropriate ways to recognize Taiwan as an indispensable partner in our shared pursuit of sustainable development.”
