By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize enters Week 3 with three important matchups and a notable venue adjustment that shifts home‑field advantage in one of the weekend’s headline fixtures. The week also comes with significant infrastructure news, as the Isidoro Beaton Stadium is set to close for upgrades beginning Monday, February 2.

Belmopan FC vs Port Layola FC

📅 Saturday, January 31

🕢 7:30 PM

📍 FFB Stadium

Belmopan FC return for their second match of the season after falling 2–1 to Napoles in Week 1. Their Week 2 fixture was postponed, leaving them eager to secure their first points of the campaign.

Port Layola (1‑0‑1) arrive with momentum after Wednesday’s 1–0 win over Wagiya in the rescheduled Week 1 match. They rebounded well from last Saturday’s 3–0 loss to Progresso and will look to build consistency under the lights in Belmopan.

Progresso FC vs Napoles FC — Venue Change

📅 Sunday, February 1

🕞 3:30 PM

📍 People’s Stadium, Orange Walk

The Week 3 fixture originally scheduled as Napoles vs Progresso has been reassigned, with Progresso now designated as the home team. The match will be played at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk on Sunday at 3:30 pm.

Progresso (2‑0‑0) enter the weekend as the league’s only perfect team, scoring six goals and conceding none through two matches. Napoles (1‑1‑0) remain unbeaten after last weekend’s 2–2 draw with Benque United, powered by a brace from Daijon Daniels.

Benque United FC vs Verdes FC

📅 Sunday, February 1

🕓 4:00 PM

📍 Isidoro Beaton Stadium

Benque United (0‑1‑1) showed grit last weekend, rallying twice to earn a 2–2 draw against Napoles. They now face Verdes FC, who opened their season with a composed 2–0 win over Wagiya thanks to a late brace from Felix Martínez.

Verdes (1‑0‑0) will be looking to keep pace with Progresso at the top of the standings, while Benque aim to secure their first win of the season.

Week 3 brings shifting venues, rising stakes, and crucial early‑season positioning as all six teams continue their push in the Closing Championship.

Stadium Note: After this weekend, Napoles and Benque United should join Belmopan FC in hosting their home matches at the FFB Stadium, as the Isidoro Beaton Stadium will close on Monday, February 2, for upgrades under an agreement between the Football Federation of Belize and the National Sports Council.
