By Zoila Palma:  A pig training session was successfully conducted on November 4 at Myers’ Naj Farm in Arenal Village, Cayo District, bringing together 35 participants from Arenal, Succotz and the Benque area.

The training was organized by the Cayo Extension Service, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries (MAFSNGI). It was facilitated by Extension Officer Franklin Padron, with assistance from Mr. Garcia of GEF6 and Ms. Moh of CRESAP.

Participants received practical guidance on several aspects of pig production, including housing, piglet management, breeding selection, gestation and lactating sow management, castration and proper feeding practices.

Reimers Feed Mill and Agrovet Jiron Group also participated, delivering presentations on their products and services to the farmers.

Dr. Torres of OIRSA provided additional assistance during the training and donated medication to the farmer.
