By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police have formally arrested and charged 23-year-old Rozaun Vairez of Punta Gorda Town for kept firearm without a gun license and kept ammunition without a gun license.
According to police, an officer was conducting an anti-crime operation in Punta Gorda around 1:25 a.m. when his attention was drawn to two men on a motorcycle. When the officer attempted to approach them, the motorcycle sped off and a pursuit followed.
During the chase, police say Vairez fell from the motorcycle and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended. A search of a bag in his possession led to the discovery of a 9mm pistol with a magazine containing 18 live rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Vairez was later formally charged.
