By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in Ladyville are investigating a road traffic accident that occurred on Friday, December 5, 2025, near the Shell gas station and Low’s Supermarket on the Phillip Goldson Highway. Officers responded around 7:00 pm and arrived at mile 8 and a half, where they found a purple and black Lifan LF125 5 motorcycle lying on its left side in the left lane of the highway. A Hispanic male pedestrian was found one to two feet away from the motorcycle with visible scrapes and bruises and was complaining of pain.
Surveillance footage shows the pedestrian walking with two other men along the roadside before attempting to cross the highway. As he crossed near Low’s Supermarket, he was struck by a motorcycle travelling from Belize City toward Ladyville. The impact caused the pedestrian to fall and sustain injuries.
Footage also shows the motorcycle rider being assisted briefly by a witness before fleeing the scene on foot. The rider, described only as a dark skinned male wearing a fluorescent green short sleeve shirt and dark pants, left both the motorcycle and the injured pedestrian behind. The motorcycle had no license plate, no insurance disk, and no license stickers. Damages included a broken headlamp and scrapes to the left foot rest.
Emergency responders transported the pedestrian to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment, and a medico legal form was issued. The motorcycle was impounded, and investigators have yet to download full surveillance footage or collect all statements. Police continue to search for the unidentified rider.
