By Rubén Morales Iglesias: PACT on TRAK — Amado Cruz, Enrique Cruz, and Cristian Lopez — are the champions of the 2026 Belikin La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge after winning Monday’s final leg from Burrell Boom to Belize City and completing a clean sweep of all four stages.
The trio dominated the race from San Ignacio on Friday morning to the final sprint into Belize City today. They won from San Ignacio to Banana Bank, from Banana Bank to Double Head Cabbage, from Double Head Cabbage to Burrell Boom, and Monday’s decisive Burrell Boom to Belize City leg.
Their consistency and pace over four days left no doubt. PACT on TRAK controlled the race from wire to wire, building a margin that no team could meaningfully challenge.

Overall Picture
The overall top five remain unchanged, as the time gaps from the first three stages were not affected by today’s results.
Although Ranza River Cruisers finished ahead of Black Orchid Resort on Sunday and again today, both teams came into the Grand Resort finish in Belize City in the same finishing group, meaning Ranza did not gain any time on Black Orchid.
Because Black Orchid carried a comfortable cushion into the final leg, and because today’s finish did not alter the time difference between the two teams, Black Orchid securely held on to third place overall.

A dominant champions’ performance
PACT on TRAK’s sweep places them among the most dominant champions in recent La Ruta Maya history. Their blend of power, rhythm, and river craft over four days produced a performance that will be remembered for its control and consistency.
Their victory capped a dramatic final day that also included a planned protest paddle by several teams who continued to the Belcan Bridge after completing the official finish at Grand Resort, but the competitive storyline belonged entirely to the champions, PACT on TRAK.

As the teams finished the race, several paddlers appeared live on the official media house, Love FM, as they have after each stage, despite the Belize Canoe Association saying that its membership had decided they would not grant interviews to Love FM.
However, according to News 5 Live, after completing the race, about 20 teams gathered at the channel entrance to Haulover Creek and headed to the usual finish line at the Belcan Bridge. The Belize Canoe Association, which has been in contention with the organizers over the decision to change the finish from the Belcan Bridge to Grand Resort without consulting the teams, said the paddlers would be hosted and a celebration would take place by the Belize City Civic Center grounds.
