Earlier this week, news of yet another Facebook scam made the rounds on social media, resulting in the deposit of monies into the bank account of one Ms. Medina.

The family of the account holder reached out to Breaking Belize News to share the statement below, hoping to help those who were scammed, and to clear their name.  Full statement below:

Statement from Ada Mirtha Medina

On the 8th day of December 2025, by Facebook post, I was made aware that my name was being associated with an on-going Facebook scam.

I further learnt that one Natasha and one Jessica have been requesting payment to my Atlantic Bank Account from innocent buyers.

I want to categorically state that I, nor any family member of mine, knows or is associated with these persons. I further want to make it absolutely clear that I am not part or parcel of any scam on Facebook or otherwise.

Upon learning of the scam I immediately went to the bank to request a statement since I do not have online banking. Upon review of my bank statement I indeed noticed 3rd party deposits into my account. These deposits were made from the 2nd of December, 2025 to the 8th of December, 2025.

I visited the Orange Walk Police Station to make a report about the fraudulent use of my Atlantic Bank account and against the perpetrators.

I have reached out to Ms. Marin and others, and I have returned their monies. I am also attempting to contact and locate others who have been scammed and have deposited money into my account to have their money returned.

If you or someone you know were scammed by the use of my Atlantic Bank Account under the name of Ada Mirtha Medina, I invite you to contact me at 655-7751 with proof of deposit or transfer so that we may resolve it.

I condemn scamming to the fullest and apologize to all affected by the fraudulent use of my Atlantic Bank account.
