The Orange Walk Football Association (OWFA) First Division Opening Season 2025–26 reaches a crucial stage this Sunday as Progresso FC and Yo Creek United FC meet in the semifinal second leg at the Louisiana Football Field. Kickoff is set for 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 18, 2026, with fans entering for $7.00.
The tie is finely balanced after a 1–1 draw in the first leg. Progresso FC struck early through Calvin Thurton, who found the net in just the 4th minute, but defending champions Yo Creek United responded in the second half when Armando Chirinos equalized in the 55th.
Progresso enter the decisive match with strong attacking weapons. Thurton, now on 8 goals this season, remains one of the league’s most dangerous forwards, while teammate Mark Bainton adds another 7 goals to the club’s firepower.
Yo Creek United counter with their own prolific duo. Axel Alamilla, also on 7 goals, and Liam Reyes with 6, have been consistent threats throughout the campaign. With the aggregate score level, one moment of brilliance—or one mistake—could determine who advances to the OWFA final.
A tense, tactical showdown awaits in Orange Walk.
