The second semifinal of the OWFA 2025–2026 1st Division Opening Championship brings together two of the district’s most accomplished sides, as Yo Creek United FC take on Progresso FC Amateur this Sunday, January 11 at 5:00 pm at the Louisiana Government Primary School Football Field.
Progresso FC have been one of the standout teams of the season. They topped Group B with 16 points, the highest total of any team in the competition, and then delivered one of the most dominant quarterfinal performances. Progresso powered past FC Trinidad with a 4–1 win, sealing a commanding 7–2 aggregate to reach the semifinals with confidence and momentum.
On paper, Progresso hold the statistical edge — more points, stronger regular‑season record, and a powerful quarterfinal showing. But Yo Creek’s championship pedigree cannot be ignored. They have dominated the district in recent years and enter the semifinals as the team to beat.
Yo Creek United FC boast one of the strongest résumés in Belizean amateur football. They are the reigning two‑time OWFA champions, and they are also the FFB’s National Amateur Interdistrict Champions, having topped the national competition that features all district champions and subchampions from across the country. Their pedigree, depth, and consistency make them the team everyone aims to dethrone.
In this OWFA Opening Championship, Yo Creek finished second in Group A with 13 points, just behind Louisiana FC. In the quarterfinals, they showed their trademark composure, edging San Estevan Soccer Team 2–1 to complete a 5–2 aggregate victory and advance to yet another semifinal.
This matchup brings together the Group B winners and the defending district and national champions, setting the stage for one of the most compelling semifinal battles in recent OWFA history.
The second leg will be played on January 18, with the aggregate winner advancing to the single‑match Grand Final.
