By Breaking Belize News Staff: A major joint operation by the Placencia Quick Response Team and Seine Bight Traffic units has resulted in over 200 vehicle checks and multiple citations.
The strategic operation, held at the Maya Beach substation, was designed to target “transient criminals” and “organized crime” while ensuring that all vehicles on the road are roadworthy and legal.
Officers specifically looked for defective tires on cargo trucks, unsecured loads, and motorcycles that failed to meet safety standards.
Among the 12 tickets issued, several were for mechanical defects such as faulty indicators and brake lights, while others were for administrative failures like the inability to produce a driver’s license.
One individual was taken into custody after being caught driving an unlicensed and uninsured vehicle without a valid license.
Police have signaled that these types of joint operations will continue as part of their commitment to maintaining order and safety within their area of responsibility.
