Over 20 call center workers in San Ignacio sent home without pay

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): More than 20 employees at one of the call centers in San Ignacio were reportedly sent home over the weekend after being told that their campaign had been shut down.

According to the affected workers, the closure left them frustrated, disappointed, and angry, with many gathering outside the building to voice their concerns. They say the situation was not handled in a professional manner.

Employees say they were informed of the closure only through a message, which they claim was later deleted by a floor manager. The workers say they were told they would be laid off for two weeks without pay, until further notice.

For many of the employees, the sudden loss of income has come as a heavy blow, with some saying they were left with little explanation about what comes next. A number of them returned to the call center on Monday, seeking further clarification about their employment status and what the closure means for their future.

Efforts to obtain a response from the company regarding the situation were ongoing at the time of this report. Breaking Belize News will continue to follow the story.
